Eddie - Life Size Bronze Portrait Sculpture

Eddie - Life Size Terracotta
A spectacular motorcycle accident set me off on the long path to becoming a sculptor. I was unhurt but the compensation was enough for me to take two months off work. This enabled me to build a small studio in the back garden and get a small portfolio of portrait sculptures together. I did a series of portrait sculptures and this was one of the first. I keep it in the portrait gallery for sentimental reasons. It is a portrait sculpture of my long-term friend and training companion Eddie, a Yorkshire farmer. My intention was to get as much movement into the piece as possible. It is, in fact, terracotta, as at that time I simply could not afford to get anything cast. Some twenty years later Eddie and I are still training together!
