Art Deco Portrait
When I started out on my career as a sculptor, I did a series of portrait sculptures to get a portfolio together. I was asked around about this time, if I could produce an Art Deco style portrait sculpture. My sculptural portfolio was so small at the time that I had nothing to show the client, so I did a portrait of my sister, proving my ability to indeed sculpt in an Art Deco style. As with the Eddy sculpture, it is in fact an enameled terracotta. The moulding and casting costs were far too much back then, in those early days. I include this for sentimental reasons and because it is interesting to see how an artist’s work develops and changes over the years.
